What is a Digital Card?
A digital card combines encompasses all the functionalities of a physical debit card in a digital, virtual format. It can be ordered:
- On a new or existing client account;
- Exclusively through remote channels - via mobile or internet banking, completely free of charge;
- Activation is instant and does not require a branch visit.
Advantages:
- Instant ordering and activation via mobile banking without visiting a branch;
- Option to add the card to a digital wallet;
- Can be linked to an existing account;
- Can be issued for a new account.
Having the card in this format significantly reduces risks typically associated with physical plastic cards:
- Risk of loss;
- Unauthorized access to card data by third parties;
- Risk of the card being retained jammed in by an ATM.
Card Functions:
- E-commerce;
- Banking and P2P transfers;
- With Apple Wallet:
- Payments at retail locations;
- Cash withdrawals from Halyk Bank ATMs.
Characteristics
How to Order a Card?
To order a digital card, the user must follow these steps:
- Log in to Internet Banking
- Select "Cards" from the menu
- In the cards section, click on "New Card"
- Select "Digital Card" from the list
- In the account bundle section, choose whether to issue the card to a new or existing account bundle
- Agree to the terms and confirm the card order by clicking the "Submit" button
How is the Card Activated?
The activation process of a digital card differs from that of a debit card. When ordering a standard debit card, the user selects a branch where he/she wishes to receive the card. In the case of a digital card, this field is inactive because activation occurs directly via mobile or internet banking.
- If the user selected “New Account Bundle” during the order process, card accounts in GEL, USD, and EUR will be generated. Simultaneously, the digital card will be registered and linked to these new accounts. This activation process takes approximately 8 minutes.
- If the user selected “Existing Account Bundle,” the digital card will be linked to the specified existing accounts. This process also takes approximately 8 minutes for activation.
Card PIN Code
Once the registration and activation process of the card is complete, the user can request the digital card's PIN code via SMS, similarly to other debit cards. To do this, the user must follow these steps in Internet Banking:
- Select “Cards” from the menu
- Click on the corresponding account bundle
- Next to the digital card, select “Update PIN Code”
- Confirm the PIN update request, after which a temporary PIN is sent via SMS, with a recommendation to change it at a Halyk Bank ATM.
E-commerce with a Digital Card
To conduct e-commerce transactions, it is necessary to have access to the card details. Since the digital card exists virtually and is not physically accessible, the user must follow these steps in Internet Banking to view the full card details:
- Select “Cards” from the menu
- Click on the corresponding account bundle
- Next to the digital card, click the “Full Details” button, which triggers an SMS verification window
- Upon successful SMS code verification, the card’s identifying details are displayed: 16-digit card number, expiration date, and CVV code.
For security reasons, card identifying details are visible for only 3 minutes, regardless of the access channel. After this period, the information disappears. If needed, the user must request the details again by following the same steps.
Card Deactivation
The digital card can only be deactivated by the user through a branch, in accordance with the Bank’s standard procedure for debit cards.
Additional Information
A user may hold only one digital card per account bundle. Furthermore, a single user is allowed to have a maximum of five (5) digital cards in total.
